Demi Vollering's wisdom can teach us all how to master our mindset

Late on Sunday evening, well late in Australia, Demi Vollering took out the second edition of the Tour de France Femmes Avec Zwift, upgrading from her second position overall last year.

Most people tend to measure the success of an athlete, (and it seems other humans), by looking at their results in isolation to make an assessment about their level of performance.

What I loved most about Demi Vollering's win was the wisdom that she passed on in her post race interviews about how she came to take out this year's tour.

It's a testament that demonstrates how she has mastered balancing her self, leadership and performance mindsets.

Here's what she said:

"I worked hard but it’s not just only working hard, it’s believing in it. It’s so much together.
You have a dream and you work really hard for it, but you also need to keep calm.

You also need to keep a balance in your life, how you can keep going and find a relaxed way to do all this.

This year I’ve found a really comfortable way to do things where everything comes together.”

With so many things on our minds at once it's easy for all of us to lose our sense of balance.

When that happens we can get distracted from our goals and disconnected from our dreams, we can lose perspective and begin to spend more of our time, attention and energy focusing on the things we can't control, rather than concentrating our efforts on the things we can.

Literally everyone can benefit from taking the time to reflect on Demi Vollering's shared wisdom.

You might even like to ask yourself a few pointed questions:

  • Do you have clarity about your goals and dreams?

  • Do you believe in them?

  • Do you believe in yourself?

  • Do you stay calm under pressure?

  • Do you keep a balance in your life that helps you to relax?

  • Do you feel like things are coming together this year?

If reflecting on these questions seems out of reach, you might benefit from learning to 'Tune In' to your own wisdom by understanding your mindset and your personal energy better.

If you'd like to find out more about how the 'Tune In' program can help you and your team to build belief and live your life in a state of flow (i.e. balance) you can download the program outline here.

If you have any questions or queries I'd love to hear from you directly.
