Showing up for yourself… Part 2.
Last week I posted on LinkedIn about showing when it's hard to show up... but how about showing up for yourself (and hence others) when it's easy and given to you on a plate?
Is it ever easy or is it something that challenges you? Does creating space for yourself sometimes make you feel like you are being lazy?
If it does you're not alone…
Do you actively and intentionally give yourself permission to show up for yourself? As the phrase goes "To lead others you first need to lead yourself..."
Everything needs space to grow, but at times it can feel hard to create that space, even though you know you (and everybody else) needs it.
The other day, after a full morning of mentoring I realised I had made a scheduling error. After fixing the problem I found myself with both time and space in the afternoon I hadn't expected.
It would have been easy to fill the space with work, but after Tuning In I realised I was low on mental and emotional energy. So what to do?
Impromptu surf session at an empty beach.
Result = Energy renewed and excited by what was correctly scheduled for the next day.
Do you really give yourself permission to renew your energy when you know you need to?
Better still can you now see that intentional rest and energy renewal (either physically, mentally or emotionally is actually a key part of work and sustaining high performance?
