Top Energy tip from a true champion - Are you getting enough sleep?

Last week I was lucky enough to be sent a message by Serena Monique Guthrie MBE.

She is a former netball player from Jersey who played internationally for England. She played in the Centre, Wing Attack and Wing Defence positions. She was a dynamic player, known for her speed and athleticism, with a keen eye for the intercept.

Serena heard about my work on energy and was kind enough to share her top tip on energy as a former professional athlete.

Here's what she said...

"From my career as a professional athlete the key for us ensuring we have enough energy to perform was sleep.

Sleep is the number 1 recovery technique / option that many of us underestimate and don’t value.

Sleep is key for:

relationship building

emotional regulation

decision making

effective problem solving

leadership style selection

these 5 key areas are essential to building and growing business and sustaining high performance."

So it appears that REST AND RECOVERY ARE KEY INGREDIENTS TO HIGH PERFORMANCE. And more specifically sleep.

I love this tip. I hope you do too.

I also love how Serena is sharp enough to point out that often the things that are most important are the things we underestimate or don't typically value.

Thank you Serena for your generosity.
